Online Opportunities for Teachers
Kayse Morris helps educators become online marketers with her products and services. She’s an elementary and middle school teacher turned online marketer, now making multiple six figures with her business.
The truth is, when you build your own brand the sky is the limit. And, that’s just what Kayse has done with her business.
Listen in to this episode for tips on building your own brand (also launching a course when 7 months pregnant) and growing your online marketing skills.

This episode is for you if:
- You’re busy with a career, family, and *insert list of to do’s*… but you’re thirsty for more (less time, more income kind of “more”)
- You want to know how to build a business online that feeds your drive and helps you serve others
- You’re all about teaching others (it’s not just about the money, but let’s be real money is nice)
“I’ve built a sustainable income and brand that’s going to last a lifetime and that… that is worth everything.”
For Kayse, it wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies in business. In fact, she was originally determined to become a principal and has a Masters in IT and Educational Leadership.
After applying and receiving feedback of “being too young”, Kayse ventured into the online world of marketing with Teachers Pay Teachers. In 2013, she made $50 in one month and was determined to figure out a more lucrative system with the platform.
Let’s just say, she hit right on the nose! But, she didn’t stop there with success on TpT… she’s now built her own brand and helps other teachers create income online as well.
The Hurdles to Growing Online
The “I know everything mindset” is a limiting belief and difficult to overcome.
Learning new content was a struggle. I mean you’re dedicated to one path and to switch gears and learn a new set of rules, platforms, jargon, and so on is rough for anyone.
Kayse admits, “I had to learn to grow.” In this growth, you realize all the things you don’t know which can be overwhelming and become too much. This is where a majority of people quit because you think you won’t be able to handle it. And, the fear of losing becomes more prominent that in the forefront of your mind than the fear of winning.
Each side fo the spectrum is scary: Either you lose everything or you have everything to lose.
Wins in Online Business
In November 2018, Kayse launched her first course, “Transform your Resources.” With an email list of over 12,000 and guidance from a mentor, she was able to sell her course to around 300 people (and, she was 7.5 months pregnant at the time… get it, lady!).
Listen, I know you’ve heard me (Lander) say it before, but there’s so much power in building an email list. Kayse didn’t even realize the relationships she’d built since growing her list back in 2015 and had only given out free resources. She had to learn a new path with selling to her list with authenticity, and she did it so well!
There’s such a need for teachers to have a light and guide. We need someone to be uplifting and inspirational in what we do.
This is incredibly true for teachers.
It’s also important to identify your target audience and their weaknesses. If you’re in that field/profession, like Kayse, you’re able to hit the ball home with the pressures and limiting beliefs.
For teachers, it’s important to emphasize that it’s okay to profit from your resources. Kayse encourages educators by saying, “We were also born to provide and live a happy fulfilled life.”
“I struggled to figure out the what’s my thing. The more I leaned into what I love, which I get nerdy over numbers and conversion, the more growth I witnessed. I built the line based off of what I love: marketing; sales; psychology; design; and how they all come together to work to convert. I carved out a niche in my market. There’s no direct competitor and when my customers come to me, they discover an experience like nothing else they’ve seen.”
This is what you strive to build (or have built). Something unique to your talents, that provides ridiculous service or product to your customers that gets them raving.
It’s fulfilling to know I’ve created something unique to me, my strengths, and what I love, while also serving my specific people really well.
Strategy Tips:
- Pull back the curtain and share behind the scenes
- Build something unique (no one can replicate you and your unique gifts)
- Don’t be afraid to share
Biggest Challenge
Facing the fear of failing.
I have to conquer this fear over and over. In fact, I had a discussion with James Wedmore and he put me in my place by saying, “if you let this win, you’ll lose your business within a year.”
How do businesses fail? They give up.
Don’t give up!
Winning mindset strategies:
1. Instead of wondering if it’s going to happen, wonder when it’s going to happen.
2. Set up systems for accomplishing goals
3. Invest in an online course or mentor for your business!
