This episode is for you if:

  • You’re interested in setting a business up that’s online and portable
  • You want creative ways to grow your small business
  • You’re may be in network marketing, but you want to create your own brand

“I like to work. I like to be productive with a paycheck and I just wasn’t feeling fulfilled staying home.”

A lot of moms just beat themselves up and wish they loved being stay at home moms, so it’s important to talk about that drive within for work from home moms as well. It’s okay to embrace the drive and you can work from home and be a great mom.

After two years of being stay-at-home, Jen decided to work but couldn’t find a job that was part time and a minimum of six figures (which she claims was a naive minimum, but she’s glad she started there).

Therefore, she made her own job that fit the criteria. First, she started a successful home decorating and staging business and it was the first time Jen recognized the empowerment in starting a small business.

It became a driving force for her future endeavors: How can I teach more women to feel the empowerment I felt building a small business?

Then a friend introduced her to Rodan and Fields, and as uncomfortable as Jen says she was with sales and skin products, she cared about empowering women and providing flexible options so women could work from home (and make a secure paycheck)

Now, she has a team of over 9,000 people.

Best Tool for Growth

1. The best tool for growth is your email list! GROW YOUR EMAIL LIST.

Technology changes. What Jen once did on Facebook, she’s now transitioning to Instagram and other platforms. But the email list is tried and true.

If one platform should go down, I still have my email list

2. Also, quizzes are a great source for drawing in an audience as well! These have performed extremely well for Jen’s business and she uses platforms like Clickfunnels to make it happen.

3. Listen to those who have gone before you. It’s all about failing forward, and if you can learn from the growth pains of others then you will inevitably grow further faster.

Entrepreneurial Tips for Profit

First, it’s important to note that Jen spent 6 to 7 years building passive income with Rodan and Fields to be able to invest in Mission Entrepreneur. In order to build her brand to where it is today, it took significant planning, work and investment.

Pro tip: Any good entrepreneur knows their strengths and weaknesses. For Jen, she’s constantly dreaming up new ideas and there’s never a lack of them. She knew she needed someone detail oriented and process-oriented to help develop her ideas into a reality.

She’s also extremely disciplined with her day and there’s not a minute unaccounted for. She’s always doing multiple things, like if she’s in the shower, she’s also listening to a podcast and developing those new ideas in her head.

Brand Building Tips (even for network marketers!)

As a smart CEO, you have to think 5 steps ahead.

Network marketing platforms typically provide a great deal of resources like email, website, etc. However, it lacks in personal branding.

It’s wise for anyone in the network marketing industry to have a personal brand.

“As much as I’m an affiliate to my company, I’m still me. I’m a brand and I stand for military support and female entrepreneurship.”

Important questions to ask yourself as the CEO:

1. How can I continue to grow myself online (through a personal landing page or website)

2. What am I doing to ensure the longevity of my business?

3. How can I continue to grow myself and put myself out there.

Pro Tip: When you’re in a sea of people selling the exact same thing as you, the unique selling point is YOU. What you stand for is going to be the thing that sets you out from the crowd and makes them want to come to you for the product or services.

“The reason businesses fail (8 out of 10 businesses fail in the first five years) is because people don’t stick with it.”

Be okay with evaluating what you’re doing well and what you’re not. A lot of times this means disconnecting yourself emotionally from the products or services you have. You need to look at them like a CEO. What’s working, what is not? What is bringing in money, and what is not? How do you 10x what is bringing in money?
