Megan Martin of Megan Martin Creative shares her behind the scenes tips on how she built a successful online business building websites that convert. She helps entrepreneurs create beautiful, well designed and high converting websites.
According to Mill for Business, 380 new websites are created every minute!
It’s no longer an effective marketing strategy to just have a website. It must be built to convert in order to compete and truly reach your audience.
If you’re a creative entrepreneur… here’s a golden connection for tips on creating a website that converts for your business.

This episode is for you if:
- You’re a creative business owner who wants a website that stand out
- You want strategies on creating a website and content that converts (shows you higher numbers and more purchases)
- Hearing tips on building a business you love to work on everyday is a win
“Having a website isn’t good enough anymore. These days you have a job to do right on your website and that’s to immediately connect with who the ideal customer is you’re trying to sell to and lead them on a journey, just like you would on a sales call.”
Megan points out that you wouldn’t just hop on a sales call and randomly throw information at the potential client hoping it sticks.
You’d create a methodical flow for the call, and your website works a lot like that. Your website pages are created in a way that your customer is lead through a journey.
Meet Megan Martin and Discover her Journey
Anyone feel like this? Megan shares, “I didn’t have any business savvy when I started…”
Amen, in my world!
For a long time, Megan struggled to find her true mission. In fact, it took her 6 years, and she just kept pushing forward. Ahem, this is encouragement you should keep pushing forward, boss.
Now, she’s retired her husband from corporate America and he works alongside her with Megan Martin Creative. And the business that was meant to be a side hustle provides for her family in ways she never intended.
It did take a long time to build her business. Our society is so used to instant gratification because of the social media world we live in. You look to the right and left and see those that are doing “well” and fail to see the backstory, the years it took to make a successful business.
Pro Tip: Get your mission down pat and avoid the comparison trap.
Finding Success in Online Business
First and foremost, Megan stresses that the business she created and gets to run brings her so much joy and that’s the crux of it all. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much money she makes in this business. She has joy here and it’s what she’s was meant to do. It’s freeing to be in that space.
In terms of financial success, the past year is where her business truly found its stride. She’s in the right space and she’s found what truly makes her unique. She loves her job and it shows in her work.
Pro Tip: Give yourself the freedom, time, and space in your journey to get there. The true success for me in my business journey is the joy I feel today.
The steps that lead to her financial success (remember this was years in the making), was launching her website template line.
“I struggled to figure out the what’s my thing. The more I leaned into what I love, which I get nerdy over numbers and conversion, the more growth I witnessed. I built the line based off of what I love: marketing; sales; psychology; design; and how they all come together to work to convert. I carved out a niche in my market. There’s no direct competitor and when my customers come to me, they discover an experience like nothing else they’ve seen.”
This is what you strive to build (or have built). Something unique to your talents, that provides ridiculous service or product to your customers that gets them raving.
It’s fulfilling to know I’ve created something unique to me, my strengths, and what I love, while also serving my specific people really well.
Strategy Tips:
- Pull back the curtain and share behind the scenes
- Build something unique (no one can replicate you and your unique gifts)
- Don’t be afraid to share
Websites that Convert
Here’s a breakdown of what Megan digs into in the episode:
Build your website in a way that helps the audience know right away if they’re meant to be there.
You have a unique product, so don’t waste anyone’s time. It should resonate immediately if they’re in the right spot, looking for this product/service, and you want them to answer this right away.
Take them on a journey through every page they hit. Answer their questions, does it resonate, is it what I need? Build the experience so that when you go from page to page, you’re confident in your purchase at the end.
Pro Tip: It’s okay to stop being all things for all people, which is the attract and repel concept of marketing. When you’re doing this… you’re doing something right.
